Five Reasons I Love the Flyers: frick

frick is a semi-anonymous and slightly autonomous Flyers (and Phillies, but since this is a hockey site, who cares about them?) fanatic who posts on such illustrious and exclusive sites as Twitter and the Official Flyers Message Board.  Likes pina coladas and getting caught in the rain (not really, but it sounds good) and long walks on the beach.  Has been contemplating buying a Wii for a year, but just can’t make the commitment.

1. No Number Ones… But Lots of Number Twos!

The Flyers have more number two goalies than your team.  And they made it farther than your team last year too *cough*excepttheBlackhawks*cough*.

2. Ian Laperriere

The Flyers have Ian Laperriere.  You gotta love this guy – everything about him.  The way he carries himself, the way he loves the fans, the way he breaks his face to block shots, and even his nose.  I mean, it’s S-shaped from being broken so many times!  (The printed “s”, not the cursive kind – those things are weird looking).

3. They’re Better Than You

These guys can do everything you can do, but better.  And on skates.  They are in your rink, on skates, punching people in fights, and they don’t know the meaning of turtling (and not only because that’s not really a word).

4. Playoff Beards

They can grow some bad-ass playoff beards, save Briere’s and Pronger’s.  In fact, don’t even mention Pronger’s lack of one or he will elbow you in the face.

5. The Last Reason

Pronger elbows people in the face.  Does it already count since I mentioned it above?  It does?  Darn… umm… Carcillo’s mustache.  You fear it, admit it.  What?  Already counts in the “beard category”?  Hmmm… well.  They have no draft picks, and too many NMCs and NTCs.  No, this isn’t as bad as it seems.  Recently, they have been forced to go for broke since there is nothing to build on, and they can’t keep anyone who doesn’t already have a special clause, if you know what I mean.  Stanley Cup or bust!
