North American Prospect Weekly Report (1/3 – 1/9)

The North American Prospect Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects playing in the various leagues throughout North America.

Forwards:

It was a strong week of performances for the QMJHL trio. Michael Chaput lead the way with a 7 point week (5 g, 2 a). Dave Labrecque assisted on 5 goals in the 3 he played. Tye McGinn scored 3 goals over the three games he played. Brendan Ranford’s 4 assist performance this week allowed him to best his career high in points. His previous career high was 65 points in 72 games. He now sits at 66 in 42 games played. Jonathon Kalinski lead the way in Phantoms scoring with 3 points ( 1 g, 2a) in 3 games. Mike Testwuide contributed with a goal while Eric Wellwood and Ben Holmstrom each contributed with an assist.

Defenseman:

Erik Gustafsson was back in the lineup for all 3 games after being returned back to the Phantoms. He recorded one assist and ended up being a plus in each game. Oliver Lauridsen also recorded an assist and was a plus in each game he played. Kevin Marshall also made the scoresheet with an assist.

Goalies:

Johan Backlund made his first start since returning from injury. He stopped 28 of 30 shots, but lost in the shootout. Adam Morrison posted his second shutout of the season when he made all 29 saves on Tuesday. Nic Riopel struggled a little in his first start since being demoted to the ECHL. He let in 4 goals on 28 shots and was tagged with the loss. Brian Stewart had a mixed week. He started one game for the Phantoms where he stopped 26 of 28 shots and got the win. He was then demoted to Bakersfield of the ECHL to make room for Michael Leighton. He let in 5 of the 36 shots he faced in his first start with Bakersfield which ended up being a loss.
