North American Prospect Weekly Report (1/10 – 1/16)

The North American Prospect Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects playing in the various leagues throughout North America.

Forwards:

Michael Chaput and Tye McGinn both continue to be red hot. Each had a 7 point performance this week. Chaput had a huge 2 goal, 3 assist performance in his first game. He scored an assist in his second game and a goal in his third. McGinn was quiet in his first game, but scored 3 and assisted on one in his second game, and scored and assisted on another in his third. Dave Labrecque had a quieter, but solid 2 points in the 2 games he played. Brendan Ranford continues to cool off some with no goals and 2 assists in 3 games. Shane Harper was demoted to the ECHL after the Phantoms had some players return from injury. He had a big 4 point (1 g, 3 a) performance in his 3 games played. Ben Holmstrom leads the Phantoms in offense this week with a goal and 2 assists. Luke Pither was behind him with a goal and an assist. Stefan Legein returned from his injury and scored a goal in his second game back. Rob Bordson scored his first goal since being acquired.

Defenseman:

Kevin Marshall scored his second goal of the season with the Phantoms. He also was strong defensively and finished with a +4 on the week. Danny Syvret contributed with a goal and assist. Ricard Blidstrand also finished with an assist this week.

Goalies:

Johan Backlund was steady in the game he started this week. He stopped 24 of the 26 shots he faced to record the only win for the Phantoms this weekend. Adam Morrison had a litle bit of an odd week. He got the start in the Blades’ first game where he allowed 4 goals on 32 shots and was credited with the loss. He came on in relief early in the 2nd period of their second game and stopped all 24 shots he faced. He got the start in game 3, but was pulled before the start of the 2nd period after allowing 3 goals on 19 shots. Nic Riopel had a strong performance since being demoted to the ECHL. He allowed only 1 goal on 27 shots in his first start to get the win. He only allowed 2 of the 30 shots he faced during his second start, but was charged with the loss. Brian Stewart also performed well in his starts. He stopped 72 of the 77 shots he faced over two games.
