North American Prospect Weekly Report (2/28 – 3/6)

The North American Prospect Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects playing in the various leagues throughout North America.


Newly signed prospect, Tyler Brown, had a six point performance over four games. He assisted on three goals in his first game. He then followed it up with another assist in his second game. Finally, he finished with a goal and an assist in his third game. Jason Akeson, the other newly signed prospect, had two assists in his four games. Shane Harper scored two more goals in the ECHL this week. Ben Holmstrom had a two goal performance on Sunday with Phantoms. He also added an assist in his other game. Mike Testwuide registered a point (1g, 1 a) in both games with the Phantoms. Eric Wellwood also contributed with a goal while Luke Pither and Jonathon Kalinski contributed with an assist. Dave Labrecque also scored a goal in the QMJHL.

Brandon Manning had a huge week as his team is battling to make the playoffs. He scored a goal scored a goal in his first game. He then scored a goal and assisted on another during his 3rd game. He then followed that up with a hat trick during his final game of the week. Danny Syvret also had a big week offensively. He had a pair of assists in both games he played. However, he finished with an ugly -3 despite the offensive production. Marc-Andre Bourdon was temporarily assigned to Greenville for conditioning as he returns from a concussion. He had a pair of assists in his first game back. Ricard Blidstrand scored his 3 goal on the season in his first of three games. Erik Gustafsson and Tyler Hostetter each recorded an assist for their respective teams.

Johan Backlund won his only start with the Phantoms when he stopped 26 of 29 shots. Adam Morrison had a mixed two starts. He allowed 3 goals on 6 shots in his first start and was pulled after 9 minutes. During his second start he allowed 2 goals on 18 shots to get the win. Nic Riopel played well in his first two starts where he stopped 47 of 52 shots over the two games, but had a poor outing during his third start where he allowed 6 goals on 28 shots. Brian Stewart was given the chance to start all three games with Bakersfield and performed really well. He stopped 28 of 30 during his first start, but lost due to the lack of goal support. He allowed only 1 goal on 23 shots in his next start to get the win. Finally, he stopped 27 of 29 during his third start which was another win.
