North American Prospect Weekly Report (3/7 – 3/13)

The North American Prospect Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects playing in the various leagues throughout North America.

Forwards:

Tye McGinn returned from a broken foot this week and immediately made an impact with a 7 point performance over two games. He scored a goal and assist in his first game back and went on to score 4 goals and assisted on another in the second of his two games. Dave Labcrecque also had a nice week in the QMJHL. He had 5 points in 3 games which included a 3 point performance (2 g, 1 a) in the second of his three games. Mike Testwuide continues his goal scoring prowess in 2011. He scored a goal on Saturday and scored two more on Sunday. Eric Wellwood finished with a goal and an assist in his three games. Rob Bordson had a pair of assists over his three games this weekend. Tom Sestito made his Phantoms debut this weekend and score his first goal with them on Saturday. Harry Zolnierzyck, the college free agent the Flyers signed, also made his debut with the Phantoms this weekend. He did not register any points. Jason Akeson had a 2 assist performance in a game this week. Finally, Shane Harper also got on the scoresheet with an assist in his two games played.

Defenseman:

Brandon Manning continues to be red hot as his team makes a push for the playoffs. He registered at least one point in each game played and finished with a goal and four assists in four games. Marc-Andre Bourdon returned to the Phantoms lineup after missing time with a concussion. He finished with an assist over the weekend. Kevin Marshall and Danny Syvret also each had an assist over the weekend with the Phantoms. Lastly, Ricard Blidstrand also assisted on a goal in the WHL.

Goalies:

Johan Backlund let in 2 goals on 20 shots in his only start with the Phantoms, but was tagged with the loss due to the lack of goal support. Adam Morrison let in 4 goals on 35 shots, but lost the game in overtime. Nic Riopel started both games for the Road Warriors. He stopped 26 of 30 in game one and lost in overtime. He then made the save on 23 of 26 shots in his second game and got the win. Brian Stewart also made every start for Bakersfield. He had a solid week, winning all three games. He allowed only one goal on 33 shots during his first start. He then made the save on 23 of 27 during game two. Finally, he only let in 1 goal on 26 shots during his last start.
