North American Prospect Weekly Report (3/14 – 3/20)

The North American Prospect Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects playing in the various leagues throughout North America.

Forwards:

The Canadian junior leagues closed out their regular season this past week. Dave Labcreque and Tye McGinn each got to play a game before getting a rest before the playoffs. Labrecque had a goal and 2 assists in his final game, but somehow managed to be a -2. McGinn scored a goal in his final game. Jason Akeson assisted on two goals during his final game of the regular season. Akeson’s team also made the playoffs. Tyler Brown did not register any points in his final three games, but he is also playoff bound. Brendan Ranford did not get to play this week as he was suspended for six games for crosschecking an official. The suspension ended his season as the Blazers did not make the playoffs. Harry Zolnierczyk scored his first two goals of his professional career this week. He had a goal in each game. Rob Bordsonhad a nice week, finishing with a goal and 2 assists in two games played. Ben Holmstrom and Stefan Legein each finished with two points in two games. Holmstrom had a goal and an assist while Legein had a pair of assists in his first games. Tom Sestito and Eric Wellwood each scored a goal this week while Luke Pither contributed with an assist. Andrew Rowe was demoted to the ECHL once again where he scored two goals in three games played. Shane Harper also scored a goal in the ECHL.

Defenseman:

Ricard Blidstrand’s season comes to an end as the Regina Pats did not make the playoffs. He finished with an assist over his final three games. Tyler Hostetter finished his regular season with an assist in his final two games. His Erie Otters are playoff bound. Brandon Manning’s performance cooled off this week. He only had 1 assist in his three games, but his recent hot streak helped his team secure a playoff spot. Kevin Marshall and Danny Syvret both finished with an assist on the week. Oliver Lauridsen turned pro and signed with the Phantoms. He made his debut in Wednesday and finished a +1.

Goalies:

Adam Morrison’s Saskatoon Blades made the playoffs as the best team in the league, but he may not see any action from here on out. He did not get to play in their final two games of the regular season. Nic Riopel only started one game with the Road Warriors as he was placed on the bereavement list. He allowed only 2 goals on 27 shots and got the win in the shootout. Brian Stewart started two of Bakersfield’s three games. He allowed a total of 4 goals on 59 shots over his two games and won both of them.
