Flyers sign Jagr

Via the Flyers Twitter account:

Per #Flyers GM Paul Holmgren: The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to a contract with free agent RW Jaromir Jagr.

At this point, contract details are unknown. It was believed that the Penguins, Canadiens, and Red Wings were all in on Jagr but the Penguins and Red Wings dropped out. The Penguins allegedly offered Jagr a one-year deal worth $2M. My assumption would be that the Flyers offered a bigger deal than that.

TSN says that it is a one-year deal that could be worth up to $3M. Chuck Gormley suggests the deal could be in the $2.3M range. UPDATE: Darren Dreger says the one year deal is worth $3.3M.

Jagr posted 51 points in 49 games for Omsk Avangard of the KHL last season. In his last year in the NHL, he scored 71 points for the Rangers in 82 games.

TSN believes Jagr is still an NHL player. Pierre McGuire believes he can score between 17-25 goals this season. Darren Pang believes he may not get as many goals but his assist total will score.
