Five Reasons I Love the Flyers: Adam Goren

Adam Goren is a longtime staple of the Philadelphia punk rock community. Goren made his bones in the scene as a member of the band Fracture before leaving to form Atom and His Package, a synthetic punk group that consisted primarily of himself (as Atom) and his “package”, a synthesizer. After parting ways with the package in 2003, he joined the punk band, Armalite, which also features members of bands like Lifetime and Kid Dynamite.

Adam is a huge fan of both hockey and the Flyers. He has written about the team before in songs like Goalie (see video below). You can follow him on Twitter here.

Goren submitted his list of five reasons that he loves the Flyers from the future. It is dated June 17, 2019.

5. Boosh
Brian Boucher has finished his NHL record 11th stint as Flyers’ backup/playoff hero-goat netminder.

4. Relocation
They have not been moved to make an unsuccessful expansion team in Atlanta.

3. Goal Song
They replaced the Pennywise goal scoring song with Brass Bonanza starting at the onset of the 2011-12 season.

2. Logo
They have the coolest logo in sports history.

1. Dominance
The Flyers are the only team in NHL history to win EIGHT straight Stanley Cup Trophies! Because of their overall dominance for the last eight seasons, the NHL made a runner up trophy given to the western conference winner called ‘The Ding Dong’. Players’ names aren’t allowed to be etched on it and it delivers a 60 Volt electric shock when touched.

The Five Reasons to Love the Flyers feature was inspired by the Five Reasons I Love Hockey feature on the Puck Daddy blog. This column should run biweekly on Thursdays. If you are a diehard Flyers fan and would like to submit your list of reasons to love the Flyers, contact us.
