Wow. I am watching a hockey game. A Flyers game. Live. On my computer (no cable for this teacher). I might be able to watch the whole game this time.
Or I may take Nyquil and crash in a matter of an hour.
This will be short because I have been sick and am sick and will probably continue to be sick for a day or more.
But we are almost to regular season and it’s about time. Off-season was traumatizing for this newbie. Summer of 2010 was tolerable. I liked, like Simon Gagne, but I wasn’t invested like I am now. Losing Mike Richards made me cry.
But he seems happy in Los Angeles and we have a very different team to watch this year. Roster decisions still not final and with a couple of suspensions handed out, I have new numbers and names to match.
It’ll take me several games to know who they all are.
Here’s my Flyers-school story for this week. It’s homecoming at my school and that means that on Monday I got to wear pajamas to teach in. Tuesday was Tacky Twin day.
I know, it was new to me too.
Another teacher, about my age, asked over the weekend if I had another Flyers shirt. I did and so we went as Tacky Twins, color clashing very well with orange. It was fun and we both were called by the other’s name throughout the day.
She’s a Packers fan, hard-core. Doesn’t know much about hockey at all. When the day was over and she gave me back my shirt, I showed her one of my favorite Giroux moments (shirts were with his number). Preseason in 2010, against Toronto Maple Leafs. Shootout goal.
And she looked at me after watching the replay and said, “That was slick.”
And I agreed with a smile. Might not have converted her to hockey, but it was enough. She understood the awesome.
