Future Flyers Weekly Report

The Future Flyers Weekly Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects playing in the various leagues throughout North America.

Forwards:

Brendan Ranford kicked off the weekend with a 5 point performance on Friday.  He scored 4 of Kamloops’ 5 goals which included the OT game winner. He picked up an assist on the only goal he didn’t score. Ranford also collected a goal and an assist during the rest of the week’s games.  Nick Cousins started off the week with a pair of 2 point games. He scored 2 goals in his first game and followed that up with a goal and an assist during game two. He was also credited with an assist during his third game. Marcel Noebels scored a pair of goals for the Thunderbirds on Saturday. Derek Mathers collected his 5th point of the season this week to tie last year’s point totals. Michael Parks scored his first NCAA goal this weekend.

Brayden Schenn opened up the weekend with a 4 point performance where he scored a hat trick and collected an assist. He also added a goal and an assist to his weekly totals over the rest of the weekend’s games. Harry Zolnierczyk matched Schenn’s 4 point night when he scored a goal and assisted on 3 on Friday. Eric Wellwood had a 4 point weekend. He collected three helpers on Friday and added another one on Saturday. Tom Sestito scored a goal during the Phantoms win on Friday and scored 2 more on Sunday. Jason Akeson had a 3 points weekend where he picked up a goal and 2 assists. Mike Testwuide also added to the Phantoms scoring parade with a pair of assists this weekend.’

Defenseman:

Tyler Hostetter scored his first ECHL career goal with the Titans this weekend. Erik Gustafsson picked up a couple of assists with the Phantoms. Blake Kessel and Ricard Blidstrand each collected an assist this week. Blidstrand also found himself a healthy scratch for a game again.

Goalies:

Niko Hovinen started off the week with a pair of wins. He allowed 2 goals on 34 shots to help lead the Pelicans to a 5-2 win during his first start. He followed that up with a 19 save shotout during his second start. His third start wasn’t as impressive as he was pulled after allowing 4 goals oin 12 shots during the first period of his third start. Brad Phillips started his first game with the Titans this weekend. He stopped 30 of 33 shots, but was tagged with the lost as the Titans only managed to score a goal.
