Future Flyers Weekly Report

The Future Flyers Weekly Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects.

Forwards:

In juniors this week, Brendan Ranford recorded a goal and an assist in both games. Nick Cousins registered a point in each of his three games to finish with a goal and two assists. Marcel Noebels and Derek Mathers were kept off the scoreboard.

For the Phantoms, Tye McGinn scored his first professional goal which was also his first professional point. Eric Wellwood and Harry Zolniercyzk both ended up scoring two goals a piece. Jason Akeson, Luke Pither, and Tom Sestito also collected two points on the week. Akeson and Pither each finished with a couple of assists while Sestito had a goal and an assist. Tyler Brown, Shane Harper, and Ben Holmstrom also picked up points for the Phantoms.

Defenseman:

In juniors, Colin Suellentrop scored his second goal of the season on Sunday. Ricard Blidstrand missed two games this weekend with a shoulder injury. It’s unclear how much time he will miss. Meanwhile, Tyler Hostetter picked up his second goal and second assist of the year in the ECHL. Finally, Marc-Andre Bourdon picked up an assist with the Phantoms.

Goalies:

Another week, another solid performance for Niko Hovinen in the SM-Liiga. He stopped 32 of 34 shots he faced in his first start, but got stuck with the loss as the Pelicans were shutout. He also stopped all but two shots in his next start, but this time the Pelicans won 3-2. Brad Phillips had a shaky outing in the ECHL as he allowed 5 goals on 27 shots.
