Pronger out indefinitely

Breaking news out of Flyers camp this afternoon…

General manager Paul Holmgren said that defenseman Chris Pronger will be out of commission indefinitely.

“While Chris’ knee is improving, he has struggled with other issues that are concussion-like symptoms,” Holmgren revealed in a statement Friday morning. “Chris will see Dr. Joe Maroon and Dr. Mickey Collins on Wednesday, December 14th in Pittsburgh for further evaluation. Chris will be out indefinitely.”

The news didn’t get any better for youngster Brayden Schenn.

“Brayden reported ‘not feeling himself’ on December 5th,” Holmgren added. “Our doctors believe he has a mild concussion. Brayden will be out indefinitely.”

Schenn last played at Phoenix six days ago. He has yet to pick up a point in six games with the big club this year, despite setting the AHL on fire with six goals and 12 points in only seven appearances.
