The Future Flyers Weekly Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects.
Juniors:
Brendan Ranford ended the week with 4 points (2g, 2 a), all coming in a game on Saturday. Nick Cousins scored a pair of goals on Friday for his only points of the week. Marcel Noebels ended his week with a goal and an assist. Derek Mathers picked up his 10th point of the season which doubles his point totals from last season. Defenseman Ricard Blidstrand was a point per game on the week with 3 assists in 3 games. Colin Suellentrop assisted on 2 goals this weekend.
Phantoms:
Jason Akeson’s lead in the Phantoms scoring race continues to grow as he added 4 more assists to his point totals. Tyler Brown had an offensive explosion for him with 2 goals and an assist which nearly doubled his seaso totals. Eric Wellwood picked up 3 points (1 g, 2a) to move up to 5th in Phantoms scoring. Luke Pither and Ben Holmstrom each added an a goal and an assist to their totals. Shane Harper scored the overtime game winner in the Phantoms outdoor classic for his only point on the week. Mike Testwuide also contributed by scoring a goal.
Goalies:
Niko Hovinen had a busy week in net this week. He faced 42 shots during Tuesday’s start. He stopped 39 of them to help the Pelicans get a 4-3 win. He then stopped 46 of 48 shots on Thursday to get a 4-2 win. He had a shakier outing on Saturday, allowing 4 goals on 31 shots which the Pelicans lost 5-4.
Injury Update:
Nick Luukko is out for the remainder of the season with an injury.
