The Future Flyers Weekly Report follows the weekly progress of Flyers prospects.
I haven’t updated for a while, so this report is going to cover the week of January 30 – February 5.
Brendan Ranford climbed up to 13th in WHL scoring after his 4 point week. He scored a goal in each of his three games and also collected an assist during the third game. Nick Cousins had a 3 point game on Friday when he scored a goal and assisted on two others. He currently sits in 12th in OHL scoring. He is one point out of the top 10. Marcel Noebels assisted on two goals in a game on Friday. He now has 9 points in 11 games since being traded to Portland. Derek Mathers scored his 6th goal of the season in a game on Friday. Defenseman Ricard Blidstrand also finished with a point with an assist in a game on Wednesday. It was only his second point in 12 games since being traded to Prince George. In the ECHL Tyler Hostetter scored his second goal in 9 games since returning from an injury.
Tye McGinn helped the Phantoms end a 5 game losing streak by scoring a pair of goals on Friday. Jason Akeson assisted on both McGinn goals. Ben Holmstrom also picked up an assist in the same game. Defenseman Brandon Manning scored his second goal of the season for the Phantoms on Saturday. Shane Harper, Blake Kessel, and Ben Holmstrom each finished with an assist during the game. It was Holmstrom’s 2nd point in 2 games.
Niko Hovinen continued his domination of the SM-Liiga in his two starts with the Pelicans. He faced 47 shots combined in both games, but only allowed a goal in each game.
