Oh hey, guess what, Flyers Faithful and Orange and Black Breakdown teamed up to do fundraiser for the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation! Here are the details on the event.

UPDATE 2: Two registration spots recently opened up. To register, fill out this form. Then, use the PayPal Donation form below to donate to the silent auction for draft position.

UPDATE: Registration for this event is closed. We will now open up a PayPal Donation form which will serve as a silent auction for draft registration position. Donations are voluntary but those who do not donate will randomly be selected for a lower draft position than those who do. For those who donate, the draft order will be directly correlated to the amount donated (ie. the person who donates the most will get the first draft position). There is no minimum or maximum to the amount you can donate and all money donated will be given to the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation as part of the total amount raised from the event. If you are registered for the event, you can use the Donation button below to participate in the silent auction. Even if you are not registered to participate in the NHL ’94 Tournament, you can still donate but, unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in the event.

ANy idea on what the rules will be?? Line changes, offsides, icing etc. etc.

We’ll get some info up on that soon. Between this and the roller hockey tournament, I’m posting info up as we get it.

         Cool

Now I have to see if my Sega system is in that box in my parents’ attic still, if it is I know the game is there. I need the practice.

          • http://flyersfaithful.com Marcello

If it is, I might ask to borrow it for the tournament. I need to take inventory of what we have but we’ll need 10 systems and games and 20 controllers in total. We should be able to round up most of it but might need to put some feelers out there to borrow a couple.

          • Eric Redner

I’ll let you know. I’m gonna stop by my parents house either tomorrow or Saturday and take a look. If you need it, you’re more than welcome to it

I do have it and it works fine, two controllers (also have FIFA Soccer 95 and Madden 95 if you’re looking to run those tournies too lol). If you need to use it, it’s all yours.

          • http://flyersfaithful.com Marcello

That’s awesome. I’d love to borrow it, if you don’t mind. Maybe @pelle31lives:twitter can grab it from you? I really appreciate this.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Eric-Redner/503882835 Eric Redner

No problem, you can use it for the tournament. I still have to find out if I can make it to the tournie, though, might have a family thing that night but still waiting to find out.

          • http://flyersfaithful.com Marcello

Awesome. I hope you can make it!

    • http://flyersfaithful.com Marcello

Thanks! I should have a good idea soon of what I still need. I’ll let you know.

  • John Tomsich

Just signed up and paid and the confirmation email gave me a unique registration number that was greater than 26. I just wanted to make sure that there was space still available since details said room for only 26.

    • http://flyersfaithful.com Marcello

You’re good to go, John. The registration number doesn’t correlate directly with the amount of people registered.

      • John Tomsich

        Thanks!!!!

        • http://flyersfaithful.com Marcello

Thanks for joining us! Looking forward to it.

Similar to John, my unique number was 56. Just wanted to see if the registration went through. This is a very cool event!

    • http://flyersfaithful.com Marcello

You are in too, Lou. There are still five spots available.

    Last questions I promise…
What is the deadline to submit a bid to the silent auction?
When will the team draft begin?
Is the tournament a single-elimination format?
How will the byes be determined if there are 26 teams?
Will the match-ups be determined? By random draw?

As you can tell, I am excited for this event!

    • http://flyersfaithful.com Marcello

It’s no problem! At the moment, there’s one small issue I’m trying to resolve over the next couple days which has prevented me from setting an end date to the silent auction yet. We will likely do the draft at Play2 before the tournament starts.

As for the tournament format, I’ve asked Jon, who designed the tournament to respond to your post. He’s terrific at planning these things. If you don’t get a reply from him before the weekend’s over, remind me and I’ll follow up with him.

Here is how the tournament will go…

There will be 4 divisions as there were in 1994. Each team will play 6 games. You will play every team in your division once. The Western Conference, because they have 2 fewer teams, will play one team from the opposing division.

After that is over, the top 4 teams from each division will play single elimination games to determine a champion. However, differing from the real NHL, it will be cross-conference. For example, the #1 seed in the Patrick Division will play the #4 seed in the Smythe, and the winner of that game will play the winner of the game which matches the #2 seed in the Norris vs the #3 seed in the Adams.

At worst, everyone will play 6 games.

      • John Tomsich

I absolutely love the format! Thanks for the quick response. Hopefully this can become an annual event. Looking forward to a great time…
