Welcome to Around the Net, a weekly look through linkage at the Philadelphia Flyers and other news from around the NHL.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

Playoff previews abound and everyone has a prediction.[Broad Street Hockey][Of Ice and Men] [The Hockey Writers] [Broad Street Hockey]

My take on the Flyers-Penguins series is: Philly has played very well against the Pens all year and haven’t lost a meaningful game in Pittsburgh yet (Saturday’s glorified exhibition  doesn’t count). This Flyers team is not afraid of the Pens like they might have been 3 to 4 years ago. They know they can match their talent and are maybe the deepest team in the NHL. With Nicklas Grossmann and Danny Briere coming back, they have enough to handle their Steel City foes and will win the series in 5 games.
