European Update 4

It’s your trusty Flyers Faithful writer keeping you abreast with all the work your Euro-bound Flyers are doing. There have been some big changes for our beloved Orange and Black in the last week. Wayne Simmonds has come home while Nic Grossmann and Bruno Gervais have left. If the lockout continues, Braydon Coburn and Kimmo Timonen have said they will sign with KalPa — the team owned by Timonen and Scott Hartnell.

So, without further ado…

Matt Read (Södertälje SK – Sweden) – Read’s team had three games this week, but Read only played in two. Read injured his foot blocking a shot in practice, but was well enough to play a few days later. Read was joined by new/current teammate Nic Grossman who signed a four-game contract with Södertälje SK

Nicklas Grossmann (Södertälje SK – Sweden) – Grossmann finally got a team to pick up his insurance premiums and Grossmann is ready to begin game one of his four-game contract

Wayne Simmonds  (Liberec Bili Tygri HC – Czech) – Simmer is “coming home, he’s coming home, tell the world, he’s coming home,” (h/t P. Diddy). See Simmonds play in Scott Hartnell’s Operation Hat Trick, which is raising money for the Jersey Shore from destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy

Danny Briere (Berlin Polar Bears – Germany) – Briere was shut out in scoring for only the second time since signing on to play in Germany

Claude Giroux (Berlin Polar Bears – Germany) – G-Sus sustained a neck injury in his game Friday. Conflicting reports said that he did or did not go to the hospital. Ultimately, Giroux suffered a neck injury and is hopeful to only be out one game

Scott Hartnell – With Brad Richards of the New York Rangers, Hartnell created the “Operation Hat Trick” hockey event scheduled to take place in Atlantic City, NJ on November 24 to raise money for victims of Hurricane SandyS

Max Talbot (SM-Liiga – Finland) – Everyone’s favorite playboy scored a power play in his first game

Ilya Bryzgalov (CSKA Moscow – KHL) – Bryz was scratched one game, the back up the next, and in the third game, Bryz came in and played more than half the game without letting up a goal! Yay!
