The Philadelphia Flyers signed a pair of Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to entry-level contracts this week. One of those was expected, as goaltending prospect Anthony Stolarz inked a deal. The other signing wasn’t, as forward Brandon Alderson also joined the organization.

Stolarz continues to impress in the OHL with the London Knights. With three wins this week, Stolarz extended his winning streak to seven straight starts and improved his record to 11-2-1 with the Knights. During this personal winning streak, Stolarz has produced three games where he has allowed one goal against or less and two games where he allowed only two goals against.

Alderson is third on the Greyhounds in scoring, which is pretty impressive considering he is teammates with Nick Cousins, who is third in the OHL in scoring, and Ryan Sproul, who was picked 55th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2011 NHL Draft. The forward has 25 goals and 33 assists in 61 games this year. The 21-year-old right winger is enduring his second season as a Greyhound, as he posted 39 points in 65 contests last campaign. Before his time with Sault Ste. Marie, Alderson was a member of the Sarnia Sting, where he had 24 goals and 30 assists in 135 games.

Earlier in the week, before the two signings, the Flyers traded forward Mike Testwuide to the Calgary Flames’ organization in exchange for center Mitch Wahl. Picked by the Flames 48th overall in the 2008 NHL Draft, Wahl has split time in the AHL and ECHL over the last two seasons. In 2011-2012, the forward went pointless in five games for the Abbotsford Heat and had five points in 22 games for the Hamilton Bulldogs. With the Utah Grizzlies last season, Wahl had 40 points in 38 games. This season, Wahl had 19 goals and 40 assists in 45 games with the Grizzlies and one goal in six games with the Heat. So far with the Phantoms, Wahl has yet to record a point and is minus-5.
