The Dueling Fists of Fury have been given a vote of confidence by the Flyers’ front office, as both Zac Rinaldo and Jay Rosehill were signed to two-year contract extensions on Wednesday evening.
The former recorded three goals and five points to go along with 85 penalty minutes in 32 games for the Flyers but has been out of action since April 3 with a high-ankle sprain of his left leg.
The latter has posted one goal and 47 penalty minutes in seven games since his acquisition from Anaheim for Harry Zolnierczyk.
Points given to Rinaldo for transforming himself in this truncated season from a Steve Downie clone into something resembling a Sutter brother but with less scoring touch.
The 22-year-old Rinaldo, a native of suburban Toronto, was set to be a restricted free agent, while the 27-year-old Rosehill was scheduled for unrestricted free agency in July.
