The last American bronze medal was from Prague in 2004.

Gold-medal game

Sweden-Switzerland

Gustafsson 1+0, 22:24 TOI, +2

Despite scoring the first goal, team Switzerland lost the game by a four-goal margin. They were competing for the first 45 minutes and they still had a chance to score the equalizer. Unfortunately the Swedish team added another three goals and won the World Champioship for the ninth time. They are the first home team to win the Championship since 1986 when the USSR won (and Czechoslovakia also won in Prague in 1985).

Although Switzerland lost they should be proud of what they accomplished. They won the first medal in 60 years and they remained unbeaten till the finals.

The next Wolrd Championship will be in Belarus.
