Flyers, Streit agree to contract terms

It will be a slow process, with many information leaks along the way to keep you hooked, and here’s today’s tidbit:

The Flyers and pending unrestricted free agent defenseman Mark Streit have agreed to terms on a four-year contract, according to Darren Dreger from TSN of Canada.

No financial terms were discussed in the initial report, but Dreger was later quoted on $5.25 million per season.

The contract cannot be made official until the buyout period commences, 48 hours after the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Finals, which are tied 1-1 heading to Boston for Game 3 tonight at TD Garden.

Expectations are the pact will be north of $20 million, and will possibly be front-loaded given that it will be another of those 35-plus deals that serve to entrap less-than-savvy GMs.

Earlier in the day, CSNPhilly’s Tim Panaccio confirmed that Streit’s agent, Pat Brisson, reported no progress on contract talks.

4 year, $5,25 million?! I hope not! The Flyers’ management should learn some patience…
