Hextall welcomed back to Flyers with dual front office posts

The quintessential Philadelphia Flyer of the last quarter century has returned to the fold.

On Monday, Flyers GM Paul Holmgren announced that Ron Hextall has joined the organization as Assistant General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations, filling the slot vacated when John Paddock became an assistant coach.

“We are very pleased to welcome back Ron Hextall to our management team,” said Holmgren. “Ron has a wealth of experience in the front office in various capacities which will be a valuable addition to our staff.”

Hextall spent the last seven seasons holding the Assistant GM post with the Los Angeles Kings, helping rebuild the franchise from a struggling veteran-laden club to a Stanley Cup winner in 2012.

Prior to that, the 49-year-old Manitoba native was active at multiple levels within the Philly organization from 1999 to 2006, rising from scout to Director of Pro Hockey Personnel.
