The Flyers announced that three players have cleared waivers and were assisted to the American Hockey League Phantoms, where training camp is scheduled to begin Monday. The three players were forwards Ben Holmstrom and Kris Newbury, and goaltender Yann Danis.
Defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon also cleared waivers, but instead of heading to Adirondack, is expected to be placed on long-term injury reserve as he tries to battle back from nagging concussion issues.
An impressive group of young players will take the ice tomorrow in Glens Falls, NY, including recent signee Petr Straka, Nick Cousins, Kyle Flanagan, Jason Akeson (who many expected to still be with the Flyers after an impressive camp and preseason), Marcel Noebels and Tye McGinn.
The team also announced six players invited to camp on a tryout basis, or called up from the new ECHL affiliate Greenville Road Warriors. Those players are Guillaume Asselin, Jordie Johnston, Lee Baldwin, Mark Nemec, Jean-Michel Rizk, and Mike Cornell.
