Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more!

Sunday night in Toronto, an incident occurred during a game, despite it being the preseason and not meaning a gosh darn thing, between the Buffalo Sabres and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto forward Phil Kessel was assessed a match penalty for intent to injure for slashing Buffalo forward John Scott… With a deadly instrument.

As the image below shows, Kessel and Scott are lined up across from one another for a neutral zone face-off, when they engage in an altercation. While backpedalling, Kessel attempts to defend himself against Scott by taking a two-handed swing at his opponent’s legs with a lightsaber:

Thank you Internet. Sometimes, you’re awesome.

I just want to point out that there are only four days before the real deal starts and just five days until Philadelphia Flyers hockey action where they face-off against none other than the Phil Kessel, Jedi Knight, and the Toronto Maple Leafs! Hope this made your week as much as it has mine. Catch all of you next week!
