Gameday FAQ: Opening Night! Flyers vs Maple Leafs

Mase is getting the start tonight, with Razor Ray waiting in the wings

Here is your Philadelphia Flyers Gameday FAQ for Wednesday, October 2, 2013.

When and where are the Flyers playing?

Your Philadelphia Flyers open the 2013-14 season at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs! 7:30 pm start.

Woohoo! How can I watch this game?

This game will be shown on Comcast Sportsnet (CSN Philly) locally and on TSN if you’re one of our neighbors to the north.

The game will also be broadcast on 97.5 The Fanatic for those of you on the go.

What the heck is that picture up above?

That is Phil Kessel as Hodor from Game of Thrones!

Because he reminded me of Hodor in his infamous Team USA picture.

Yes, yes I am.

Who do I have to look forward to seeing in orange and black?

It’s opening night baby! It looks like everyone should be healthy enough to play. The lines should play out like this:

Hartnell – Giroux – Voracek
B Schenn – Lecavalier – Simmonds
Talbot – Couturier – Read
Rosehill – Hall – Rinaldo

Timonen – Coburn
Streit – L Schenn
Grossmann – Meszaros

Steve Mason will be your opening night goaltender per the Flyers’ Instagram.

JAY Rosehill?

Yeah, I don’t know why he’s in there either. Well, I do, but I don’t agree with it. Apparently, the Flyers have decided to go toe-to-toe with Toronto’s goonery. So expect a Rosehill/Orr heavyweight bout tonight. Hopefully they dress up like Rocky and Apollo Creed for the occasion.

Who do I have to look forward to booing?

The Maple Leafs lines project as:

JVR – Bozak – Kessel
Lupul – Kadri – Kulemin
Raymond – Bolland – Bodie
Ashton – McClement – Orr

Phaneuf – Gunnarsson
Gardiner – Franson
Fraser – Ranger

Jonathan Bernier will be making his second start for the Maple Leafs tonight.

Anything else I should know?

Vegas oddsmakers are saying that Peter Laviolette is the “favorite” for first NHL coach to lose his job this season. No pressure or anything, Pete!
