Read snubbed for Calder consideration

The National Hockey League released its finalists for the Calder Trophy this morning, and Matt Read isn’t on the list. Instead, Colorado’s Gabriel Landeskog, Adam Henrique of the New Jersey Devils and #1 overall pick Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Edmonton garnered the top three slots. At long last: Asham banned four games, Neal for one

Following an interminable wait, the National Hockey League on Monday suspended Penguins forward Arron Asham four games — the balance of the current best-of-seven Eastern Quarterfinal — and James Neal has drawn a one-game ban for actions taken during Sunday’s 8-4 loss to the Flyers in Game 3. Interestingly, Neal was only issued one decision for a pair of hearings today — both of which ended around 10 a.m. (et). Flyers-Penguins battle schedule released

The Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins will renew hostilities for the third time in the last five seasons in a 4-5 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal matchup. It has been selected by the National Hockey League as the series which officially kicks off the 2012 postseason, a full half-hour ahead of the 4-5 melee in the West — Central Division rivals Detroit and Nashville.
