A rough sketch of the Puckmovers' symbol, the all-seeing eye of the NHL

The ILL-uminati

Sometimes you choose the path, other times it chooses you. It’s time to lift the veil, open your eyes and perceive the flawed world in your 180-degree field of vision for what it really is. Something is rotten in the sport of hockey, in a place far, far to the West of Denmark. The Philadelphia Flyers mysteriously failed to materialize Ryan Suter, and Zach Parise, and then coveted restricted free agent and super amazing defenseman Shea Weber. The Flyers don’t miss out on guys like this. My nose is to the air and it smells like the wind is blowing …

From the time that I almost fought that Sabres fan in a drunken stupor

My Flyers Story

Most regular visitors to the site will recall the “Five Reasons I Love The Flyers” feature that we ran here for a long time. It was a fun way to get the hockey blog community to share their devotion that had its time and has since retired to a lovely farm upstate. We’d like to introduce our newest feature for the site that will premiere in the fall — My Flyers Story. Every Flyers fan has at least one good Flyers story. That time you got into a fight with a Rangers fan and accidentally spilled beer on Mark Messier. …

Shea It Ain’t So!

The Philadelphia Flyers tried to add one of the best defensemen in the NHL to the roster by signing restricted free agent Shea Weber to a 14 year, $110 million offer sheet. Their hopes were dashed on Tuesday when the Nashville Predators announced their decision to match the Flyers’ offer. The Predators had until 11:30 pm Wednesday to match the Flyers’ offer. If they had decided against it, they would have received four first-round draft picks as compensation. It was speculated that, had they not elected to match, they could have arranged a trade with the Flyers using those draft …

Salute

We’re less than a week into NHL free agency, and we’ve already had to say goodbye to a number of Flyers. Sergei Bobrovsky is off the force. James van Riemsdyk went from playing hockey in his backyard to playing for the “Yankees of hockey” (minus all the winning). Matt Carle has returned to fight crime with Hulk Hogan in Thunder Bay. And yet the one that I’ll miss the most is Jaromir Jagr. When the Flyers signed Jagr last year, I was skeptical. A 40-year-old player who had spent his last few seasons in the KHL? Putting this on top …
