Simmonds signs multi-year extension

The Philadelphia Flyers and winger Wayne Simmonds agreed to a multi-year contract extension on Thursday. No terms of the deal were disclosed, but according to a report from TSN’s Bob McKenzie late Wednesday night, the pact is in the neighborhood of $4 million per year over six seasons. “We are pleased to announce that we have agreed to a multi-year extension with Wayne Simmonds,” Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said. “Wayne plays the game with courage and honor and we believe he will continue to be a very good winger for our organization.” Acquired on June 23, 2011 as part of …

Two seasons ago, fan Seth Hastings decided to keep a count of how many times Scott Hartnell fell during the year.
