Admirals Blank Phantoms With Ease

After a stellar game last week the Adirondack Phantoms (1-4-0-2) were shutout by the Norfolk Admirals (4-1-0-2) in front of a sparse crowd at the Glens Falls Civic Center Friday Night. Yann Danis made 24 saves but did not look his goalie of the year caliber from two years ago.  Peter Holland was a highlight for the Admirals with 2 goals and an assist giving him a point on all three Norfolk goals. Maxime Sauve also contributed a goal as Norfolk outplayed Adirondack in all aspects of the game. The first period was one to forget. No really, I can …

Phantoms: New Home, New Hope – The Here and the Now

For a few weeks now, we have been asking various people if the planned move to Allentown next season has any effect on the team. When we spoke to Riley Cote last week, he hit the nail on the head. “The main focus is for us as a team is to win, whether it be in Glens Falls or Allentown.” I saw this firsthand Saturday night after the Phantoms dropped a shootout decision to an undefeated Springfield Falcons team. We talk a lot about the poor performance of the team and what has caused it, but what we haven’t really …

Despite Great Play, Falcons Clip Phantoms in Shootout

An incredibly strong game by the Adirondack Phantoms (1-3-0-2), unfortunately lead to a shootout loss to the undefeated Springfield Falcons (5-0-0-0). Nick Cousins scored his second goal in back-to-back games and Rob Bordson contributed a goal, but it was not enough. Yann Danis was very solid in net, stopping 27 of 29 shots — including a couple really nice glove saves and a diving play that could have changed the momentum of the game in the Falcons’ favor. The Phantoms jumped out to the early lead when Chris VandeVelde skated down the slot with the puck, dumping it back to …

Phantoms Get Bit Late In Third By Wolf Pack

The Adirondack Phantoms (1-1-0-1) performed well in their home opener in front of a sellout crowd of 5,031, only to fall to the Hartford Wolf Pack (3-0-0-1) in their final season in Glens Falls. Mark Alt and Ben Holmstrom scored for the Phantoms but it wasn’t enough as Brodie Dupont’s late third period goal was the difference in the game. It only took 1:16 into the game for the Phantoms to take their first penalty as Zack FitzGerald got called for boarding. Adirondack was able to regain their composure and kill the penalty from the early mishap. Hartford opened the …

Phantoms: New Home, New Hope — The Diehard Fans

So here we are. The AHL season has started and the Phantoms are off on a positive note, carrying an overtime win against the Hershey Bears this past weekend into a home-and-home with the Hartford Wolf Pack, which includes their home opener on October 12. Wait, what? The Phantoms won a game? It may sound harsh, but that’s the Philadelphia culture, right? Lose one game and the season is over? Well, things are not quite the same here in Glens Falls. In fact, it’s almost the opposite. Glens Falls has some of the most diehard hockey fans I have ever …
