Flight Plan: Final Week

Some years just do not go your way. This was the case for the 2013 Philadelphia Flyers. In a shortened year, the team couldn’t quite get their bearings early on, took a ton of injuries to key personnel, and never gained any footing as they struggled nearly the entire year to string together a winning streak or to meet the .500 mark. As such, they will not make the playoffs for the first time since 2007. This final week, the Flyers are set to take on the Boston Bruins, the New York Islanders, and the Ottawa Senators. Hockey Hilarity: Through the Grape-Vine

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! If you’re a hockey fan, you use social media, and you don’t follow the Phoenix Coyotes‘ Paul Bissonnette at @BizNasty2Point0 I don’t understand you as a person because you’re missing out on gems of tweets like this. Flight Plan: Seven Games Left

The Philadelphia Flyers have seven games remaining in their 2013 season. Yesterday they lost to the Buffalo Sabres by a score of 1-0. They are not technically mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but they will be this week with relative ease. Even if they win out, the Flyers would need all of the teams above them to lose just about every game. Four of the seven games on Philadelphia’s docket are this week against the Montreal Canadiens, the New York Rangers, the New Jersey Devils, and the Carolina Hurricanes. You can purchase tickets to all Flyers games here: http://www.tiqiq.com/nhl/philadelphia-flyers-tickets/?publisherid=1260333 Danny Briere …

Hockey Hilarity: Narcolepzgalov

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! This week has been rather sad to watch again for Philadelphia Flyers fans, but being as that it’s April and there really are no other story lines around the fledgling team, it’s pretty hard for people to write about them, let alone read about them. Amidst “reports” (or whatever they’re calling it, because I really don’t have time or care enough at all to read up on it) that …

Flight Plan: Playoffs Still Within Reach

The Philadelphia Flyers took a four game win streak, their first of the season, into Winnipeg yesterday. They scored the first goal and, after a few shaky minutes at the beginning of the first period, completely took over registering 13 shots in the primary stanza, limiting the Jets to just four through 20 minutes of play. Winnipeg roared out of the gates in the second and notched four goals on just 12 shots, while Philadelphia could only muster five all period. Newly acquired backup goaltender Steve Mason saw his first action as a Flyer, stopping all seven shots he faced …
