NHL '94 Tournament

Humbled once again

On a dreary Sunday night, when fans across the Philadelphia area may very well have preferred to stay home and celebrate the Flyers’ series-clinching victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins, over 30 people drove out to Bensalem to help support the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation. Among the people who made their way out to Play2 at the Parx Casino in the torrential downpour were a number of familiar faces from the Pub Quiz fundraiser, some new friends, and hockey’s most popular anonymous blogger, Eklund. One person stood out in particular, though. Marc Siciliano, who originally came up with the idea …

Underrated moments of the Pittsburgh/Philadelphia series to date

Ilya Bryzgalov After two games, Bryzgalov’s numbers stand here: an .857 save percentage and a 3.93 goals-against average — which, though ugly, look significantly better than Marc-Andre Fleury’s .804 SV% and 5.45 GAA — but he has come up with timely, momentum-changing saves and stood tall when he needed to do so. He’s proving himself capable of being the goalie the Flyers have been missing for years and is slowly shaking off his reputation as a poor playoff performer. Kevin Christmann: Aside from their youth at forward, and the lack of a shutdown center; I think the biggest obstacle the Flyers have to overcome is themselves. They’ve proven to be notoriously slow starters, and are forced to come from …

Daniel Briere

Five Questions: Can Briere return to his typical postseason clutch form?

Flyers Faithful is pleased to have Kevin Christmann from Of Ice and Men, Danny Ricciardi from The Orange Update, Kevin Keating from Broad Street Buzz, and our own Craig Forsythe participate in the current iteration of Five Questions. This is the first of a five part series focusing on the playoffs.  By most measures, Danny Briere has had a disappointing regular season. I’m of the opinion that given enough playoff games, almost everyone would …
