Five Reasons I Love the Flyers: David Isaac

David Isaac is a Multimedia Content Producer for Philly.com and runs The ADD Show. You can follow him on Twitter. 5. The personality Hockey players are unlike any other. When compared to the millionaires of other sports, there is a clear difference. Hockey players don’t think they’re better than you. They don’t talk down to you. They’re regular guys that just happen to shoot a 100 mph slapper. Everyone I’ve met through the organization has been as classy as can be. After a tough loss the players will still talk with the media, not turn their noses up and walk …

A couple of quick thoughts on the Nabokov situation

I know this story has already been beaten to death and that we usually do not make it a point to write about situations that are not related to the Flyers but I feel compelled to comment on the Evgeni Nabokov/Garth Snow showdown. The Islanders are not doing themselves any favors by suspending the 35-year-old goaltender who outrightly stated that he wants a shot at helping a team in the playoffs. The Islanders are not a playoff team and it is likely that they won’t be one next season either, when they could still retain his rights. The organization is …

In My Blood Growing up, Flyers hockey was always a part of my life.  I grew up watching the Flyers on PRISM & Philly 57 with my dad and playing hand hockey during intermission.  He took me to games at the Spectrum every so often, and seeing the game live definitely kept me hooked.  He told me stories about the glory days in the ‘70s.  As I grew up, my …

Five Reasons I Love the Flyers: Ralph Manoppello

Ralph Manoppello has been attending Flyers hockey games for over 37 years. His cousin started this crazy passion for a birthday gift against the Chicago Black Hawks. And 37 plus years later, he still bleeds Flyers orange, his kids bleed Flyers orange and his love of Flyers hockey is as strong today, as it was for a wide eyed 12-year old sitting at the glass watching Bobby Hull for the first time. Still a season ticket holder. Now hates the Crosby  Penguins more than Gretzky’s Oilers. And still loves being called one of the craziest fans in the most passionate …
