This week I’m taking a look at each match up and make my prediction for each. (Full disclosure I had two of the Frozen Four teams in my original predictions here. UMass-Lowell and St. Cloud State). For any of the four teams involved in the tournament, a win on Saturday night would clinch a first ever-national championship. Yale is the only team ever to advance this far and that was back in 1952. 4-1 loss to Islanders puts Flyers further out of playoff picture

The Philadelphia Flyers lost one of the biggest games in their season tonight at the Nassau Coliseum with a 4-1 defeat to the New York Islanders. Matt Moulson and John Tavares both had a goal and an assist in the win for the Isles, while Brad Boyes and Colin McDonald both recorded two-assist nights. Evgeni Nabokov registered the victory with 26 saves on 27 shots against. Steve Mason was in net tonight for the Flyers and played better than his 28 saves on 31 shots would imply. On April 1, 2013 the Flyers traded away Harry Zolnierczyk. The members of the Flyers have been trained to lose all identity so they could dissolve into one cohesive orange and black unit. As expected, the Flyers have re-upped goaltender Steve Mason. The club revealed on Monday morning that it’s a one-year extension worth a reported $1.5 million. Mason came over from the Columbus Blue Jackets in a trade deadline deal last Wednesday for Michael Leighton and a third-round draft pick in 2015, and made his Philly debut in the third period of a 4-1 loss at Winnipeg on Saturday. Mark Alt joined the Philadelphia Flyers’ organization just before the beginning of this shortened NHL season began back in the middle of January. In a deal that also brought Brian Boucher back to Philly, the Orange and Black also acquired Alt from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for forward Luke Pither.Alt spent this season with the University of Minnesota, a squad that was upset by the Yale Bulldogs in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. Philadelphia GM Paul Holmgren confirmed on Sunday morning that the club inked defenseman Mark Alt to an entry-level contract. Rochester’s Colin Jacobs recorded the deciding score, then Danny Syvret was not able to keep the Adirondack Phantoms alive in the shootout as they fell to the Americans by a 5-4 count on Saturday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Rochester (38-27-4) saw goals from Patrick Rissmiller, Frederick Roy, Drew Schiestel and Mark Mancari in regulation. David Leggio was a monster in net for the Americans, posting 39 saves on 43 shots and stopping four of five shootout chances. Mancari also had a goal in the shootout. The Philadelphia Flyers saw their four-game win streak snapped today in Winnipeg with a 4-1 loss to the Jets. Evander Kane and Bryan Little each had a goal and an assist, while Blake Wheeler registered two assists in a four-goal second period for the Jets. Ruslan Fedotenko was the lone Flyer to beat Ondrej Pavelec, as the goaltender made 30 saves for the win. Ilya Bryzgalov made 12 saves on 16 shots against before being pulled after the conclusion of the second period.
