Flyers choose Tyrell Goulbourne in the 3rd round

With the 72nd pick overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft the Flyers selected Tyrell Goulborne, a left winger from Kelowna of the WHL. Central Scouting had Goulborne as their 151st ranked North American skater. Last season with Kelowna, the 5’11” 195 lb Goulbourne tallied 27 points in 64 games while managing 135 penalty minutes. HockeyFights.com has him at 19 fights just last season. At first glance, due to his low overall ranking, limited point total, penalty minutes, and fight totals, he appears to be a low-upside fighter. With the 41st overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, the Flyers select Swedish left-handed defenseman, Robert Hägg, from Modo Jr. Hägg, who is listed at 6’2″ and 201lb. at the age of 18, is a well rounded defenseman who was projected to go in the latter half of the first round. With the eleventh pick in the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft the Philadelphia Flyers selected defenseman Samuel Morin from Rimouski of the QMJHL. The 6’6” 210 lb defenseman was ranked #23 on the CSS North American skater rankings. Morin currently weighing 210 and height last measured at 6-6 1/2. Streit officially in, so who’s out?

Beating the free-agency deadline by one week, the Philadelphia Flyers officially announced the signing of defenseman Mark Streit to a multi-year contract on Friday evening. No terms of the new pact were disclosed, but previous reports stated it is for $21 million over four years. According to Darren Dreger from TSN of Canada, the breakdown is $5 million next season, $6 million for 2014-15 and 2015-16, then $4 million in 2016-17.
