The Flyers signed F Daniel Cleary to a three year deal on Monday. The deal cannot be made official until the end of the month, as the Flyers are over the salary cap until Chris Pronger is placed on the LTIR. The deal, as reported by USA Today, is worth $2.75 million over three years. Cleary became the odd man out in Detroit, where he’s played since 2005, after the Red Wings signed star winger Daniel Alfredsson and center Stephen Weiss. Flyers Sign Taylor Leier to Entry-Level Deal

While this is the 50th contract for the Flyers it is very likely to slide along with Anthony Stolarz and Scott Laughton. Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia’s Tim Panaccio reports the contract is a 3-year deal, worth $2.56 million. He’ll be paid $853,500 per year with bonuses for games played. Flyers Extend Camp Invite To Hal Gill

Defense was not a strong point for the Philadelphia Flyers last year, and today they’ve made a move in an attempt to shore up the position. Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe is reporting that the Flyers have invited Hal Gill to training camp this season. Gill, 38, spent eight years with the Bruins, before signing with Toronto in 2006 as a free agent. Gil went on to win a Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009, before signing with Montreal.  He was later traded to Nashville who used a compliance buyout on Gill for the final year of his deal. …

Phantoms 2013-14 schedule released

The final season in the five-year run of the Phantoms in Glens Falls will begin on Saturday, October 12, when the Flyers’ primary minor-league affiliate take on the once-again re-named Hartford Wolf Pack at the Civic Center. That’s the first home contest of a 76-game schedule for the upcoming 2013-14 campaign which begins in earnest at Giant Center in Hershey one week prior. You might have called Ian Laperriere a warrior, or tough as nails during an 18-year NHL career which concluded three years ago in Philadelphia. After Sunday, add “iron man” to those honorifics.
