Finally, Some Pep in the Flyers’ Step… Though It May Be Too Little, Too Late

Heading into the final five games of the season, it’s likely that the Flyers will miss the playoffs for the first time in six years. Instead of preparing themselves for Round 1 come the end of next week, they’ll likely be packing up their lockers at the Wells Fargo Center. And it’s a huge bummer. But in these last two games, Monday’s against Montreal and Tuesday’s against New York, the Flyers have reminded us why we love our team — something a fanbase surely appreciates after a season full of asking themselves that exact question. The sudden good fortune …

If Bryzgalov is bought out, Bernier and Luongo would be ideal replacements.

Crashing the Crease: Luongo, Bernier Ideal Options to Replace Bryz

With the Flyers’ season coming to a close soon, most of Philadelphia is looking to this offseason and wondering who will don the orange and black next season – and perhaps more importantly, who won’t. R&R given two-year contract extensions

The Dueling Fists of Fury have been given a vote of confidence by the Flyers’ front office, as both Zac Rinaldo and Jay Rosehill were signed to two-year contract extensions on Wednesday evening. The former recorded three goals and five points to go along with 85 penalty minutes in 32 games for the Flyers but has been out of action since April 3 with a high-ankle sprain of his left leg. The latter has posted one goal and 47 penalty minutes in seven games since his acquisition from Anaheim for Harry Zolnierczyk. Points given to Rinaldo for transforming himself in …

The National Hockey League dished out a five-game suspension to Montreal Canadiens forward Ryan White on Wednesday afternoon, for an illegal check to the head of Philadelphia defenseman Kent Huskins. The incident occurred 6:11 into the first period of Monday’s 7-3 Philadelphia victory, when White reached out and used his elbow to subdue Huskins instead of using bodily contact. Huskins suffered a concussion on the play, and is out indefinitely. White was assessed a match penalty and game misconduct. He will forfeit $18,581.10, which automatically goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund, and  not be eligible to return until …

Breaking down the Bullies: Low-scoring losses downed the Flyers

With just five games left, the Flyers’ 2013 season has been marred by inconsistency on every inch of the ice. On the surface, it felt particularly frustrating from an offensive standpoint. What appeared on paper to be a roster full of talented, budding forwards was coming up short on a nightly basis for no real reason at all, just one season removed from tormenting its opponents. Now that the year is coming to a close, the Flyers have suddenly begun to find ways to light the lamp, compiling back to back wins while scoring eleven goals in the process. They …
