Missed powerplay opportunities and struggles with puck control were the Flyers’ downfall as they lost to the Florida Panthers on Monday night with a final score of 3-1. Sean Bergenheim had two goals for the Panthers, and Erik Gudbranson was responsible for the third. Wayne Simmonds scored the lone Flyers goal. Steve Mason recorded 28 of 31 shots, while Tim Thomas held the Flyers to only one goal on 38 shots. The Flyers were aggressive on the attack in the opening half of the first period, but were lucky that the Panthers did not capitalize on several turnover opportunities. Mason …

Flight Plan: Turning It Around

The Philadelphia Flyers have been one of the hottest teams in the entire NHL in November. Since their first game of the month, a 7-0 blowout loss to the Washington Capitals, they have managed to garner at least a point in the standings in every game except one, as they’ve gone 7-1-2. It’s a pretty impressive little run they’ve been on, but what’s also refreshing is that they are starting to score goals at a more consistent pace. Vincent LeCavalier and Eric Gustafsson assisted on Simmonds goal. Brayden Schenn scored an insurance goal in the third period from Giroux and Jakub Voracek. Read would pot his second goal of the game, an empty netter, to ice the game. “Stone Cold” …

Flyperbole: Rumor Ruminations on Brayden Schenn, Luke Schenn, Sean Couturier

Rumors, rumors, winning certainly doesn’t stop them. Brayden Schenn seems to be the focus of the rumor mill this week.   BRAYDEN BONANZA Darren Dreger mentioned on TSN that he’s been hearing Brayden Schenn’s name pop up in trade rumors. Per the transcript on TSN:   “Now the Flyers aren’t trying to push out Schenn – they may want to push out his brother Luke – but what they’ve told teams quietly is that if there is the right deal available, if they can find the right fit, then absolutely they would include Brayden Schenn in a trade scenario. And …
