The Adirondack Phantoms finished their third game in just as many nights with a win over the Binghamton Senators on Sunday, by a score of 2-1 at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The 3,127 who attended bore witness to the Phantoms (21-27-3) wearing Dax-themed jerseys to celebrate the mascots birthday (My head is still shaking just thinking about it). Special teams were the big highlight for the worn-out Phantoms. Injuries giveth and injuries taketh away. Just as it was announced that Scott Hartnell was nearing a return to the Flyers lineup, it was announced that Matt Read would miss around six weeks with torn rib cage muscles. Read left the February 20 game against Pittsburgh after the first period and did not return. Now, when players injure their wrist, we can put a brace on it. Shoulder injury? Put the shoulder in a sling. Ankle? Give them some crutches so they can rest the ankle. Rib muscle injury? Well, we can’t exactly tell a player to stop breathing …

The Philadelphia Flyers went 3-1-0 this week, capping off a six-game road trip with a win over the Pittsburgh Penguins by a score of 6-5. They lost the back-to-back game with the Florida Panthers, but beat the Winnipeg Jets, 5-3. More importantly, the Flyers are now in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with 20 points and play their next three games at home, where their record is 5-2-1. Schultz Scores Four, Titans Roll Over Royals

Stephen Schultz potted four power-play goals and Scott Wedgewood stopped everything he saw, as the Trenton Titans dominated the Reading Royals 6-0 last night at the Sun National Bank Center. Connor Goggin and Jacob Cepis also found nylon in the victory, while the pair of Blake Kessel and Kelly Zajac each had three assists in the easy win. Wayne Simmonds capped a furious comeback for the Flyers scoring at 11:03 remaining in the third period to give the Flyers a 4-3 lead and a 5-3 victory. Simmonds received a cross-ice pass just in front of the goalmouth from Brayden Schenn, and all Simmonds had to was tap in the game-winner. It was just 32 days ago that we feared the worst as Scott Hartnell went limping off the ice in Newark after taking a shot to the left foot from teammate Kimmo Timonen. Now, at the conservative end of his recovery timetable, Hartnell has returned to the lineup, per head coach Peter Laviolette, after a 16-game absence as the Flyers take on the Winnipeg Jets at home this afternoon. Hartnell had undergone surgery to correct the fracture three days after the incident, and had initially been given a 4-to-8 week turnaround. President’s Day weekend found me in your city: Philadelphia. My school takes a four day weekend then and I so desperately wanted to see my best friend and come back to where I didn’t have to defend my Philadelphia Flyers love, so I went.
