2014 Draft Eligibles: Oshawa’s Dal Colle worthy of a top five selection come June

Back in September, before the OHL season began, I did a quick preview of the top ten OHL players who are NHL draft eligible this season. (You can view my rankings here.) Oshawa Generals center Michael Dal Colle ranked number two on my initial list behind Barrie Colts defender Aaron Ekblad. I still feel Ekblad is the best overall OHL prospect for the draft and will probably be a top 2 pick come June. However, my opinion on Dal Colle has changed. I thought he would be a mid-first round selection, but after an incredible start to the year, Dal …

Flyers grab win at their second home, beat Pens 2-1 in Pittsburgh

The Philadelphia Flyers earned their third straight win tonight, as they earned a 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at the CONSOL Energy Center. Naturally, Sidney Crosby was the lone player to beat Emery, as it looks as though Philadelphia might be turning this season in a positive direction. When Craig Berube was promoted to Flyers’ head coach, he talked about the team playing a strong defensive game and being better without the puck. The Orange …

Future Flyers Report: The later picks of 2013

Of the six draft picks the Philadelphia Flyers had in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, many fans know about Samuel Morin, Robert Hagg, and Tyrell Goulbourne. The hopes are that Morin and Hagg will be on the Flyers’ blue line for awhile starting in a few years, while Goulbourne is expected to be the second coming of Zac Rinaldo, whether that’s good news or bad news for the club. However, what about the final three picks in this year’s draft? With their fifth-round pick, the Orange and Black selected Terrance Amorosa, a 19-year-old left-handed defenseman who is 6’2″ and weighs …

Flyers dominate the Senators, Mason posts 24 saves in 5-0 win

There weren’t too many questions about the Philadelphia Flyers’ goal scoring tonight, as they dominated the Ottawa Senators 5-0 for a big road win. Jakub Voracek had a pair of goals, while the tandem of Vincent Lecavalier and Brayden Schenn produced a goal and an assist each. Claude Giroux registered a pair of assists, while Steve Mason recorded his first shutout as a Flyer with 24 saves on the night. The Orange and Black looked great in every aspect of the game tonight, as they cycled thoroughly, controlled play in the neutral zone, and played responsible defense. This was a …
