Josi, Weber lead Predators past Flyers for shootout win

Roman Josi grabbed the extra point for Nashville in the seventh round of the shootout and Shea Weber had three points tonight, as the Predators edged out the Philadelphia Flyers by the score of 4-3 in a shootout. Former Adirondack Phantom Carter Hutton stopped 27 shots in regulation and overtime before he helped to keep five of the seven Flyers to shoot in the shootout from converting, while David Legwand had a goal and an assist in the victory. As for the hosts, Wayne Simmonds produced the game-tying goal with 1:24 left in regulation to grab a point for Philly, …

Game 48 Preview: Nashville Predators @ Philadelphia Flyers

Nashville Predators (20-21-7) @ Philadelphia Flyers (24-19-4), 7:00pm, CSN-Philly/FS-TN After missing the last two games due to being a healthy scratch, Steve Downie is back in the lineup as the Philadelphia Flyers host the Nashville Predators tonight. Whether Crag Berube’s decision to bench the forward will help his value to the team or not will be seen tonight, as Downie is expected to be on the fourth line with Chris VandeVelde and Adam Hall. Downie had little impact in the Flyers’ 6-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, as he was called for two minor penalties and posted …

Prince Albert Raiders center Leon Draisaitl is second, Barrie Colts defenseman Aaron Ekblad is third, Kootenay Ice center Sam Reinhart is fourth, and rounding out the top five is Oshawa Generals C/LW Michael Dal Colle. Penn State falters versus Minnesota; Set to face the Spartans this weekend

If you’ve been reading my coverage of Penn State hockey all season long then you probably know I haven’t been that impressed with this team. Granted, it’s going to take a few year’s of recruiting classes to become a power in college hockey and nobody thought they would be successful right away. The one thing I kept wanting to see out of Gadowsky’s squad  was a full 60 minute effort night in and night out. Despite dropping both games to the No.1 Golden Gophers this past Sunday and Monday, I finally saw Penn State compete for a full 60 minutes. …

Future Flyers Report: McGinn’s quiet return to NHL, Larsson traded in the USHL

After taking part in six NHL games earlier in the season, Tye McGinn made his way back to the Philadelphia Flyers’ lineup this weekend, as both Matt Read and Zac Rinaldo were out with injuries. His two-game tenure with the squad wasn’t as noticeable as his time with the team earlier in the campaign. McGinn failed to register a point and produced one shot on net overall in his two games, as he worked on two different lines in Philly’s loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday and played with Sean Couturier and Vincent Lecavalier on Sunday in the …
