Flyers hang on for 2-1 win in Berube’s debut

In his coaching debut, Craig Berube helped the Philadelphia Flyers squeak out a 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers for the team’s first victory of the 2013-2014 campaign. Brayden Schenn and Braydon Coburn produced goals in the first period that proved to be enough, while Steve Mason was impressive in the win with a 33-save performance. The story of the game for the Orange and Black in their first contest under their new head coach was Mason’s performance paired with their inability to exit their own zone. “At times I did, and at times I didn’t,” said Berube when asked …

Report: Penn State Seeking Replacement for Home Opener

With the government shutdown in full effect it’s unclear whether or not Army will be able to travel to Penn State Friday to play the Nittany Lions in the Pegula Ice Arena opener. Report: Flyers Fire Head Coach Peter Laviolette

Photo via BigBadBlog.com The jar of jam has officially run out, only three games into the 2013-14 campaign, as reports say Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette has been fired. Assistant Coach Craig Berube is expected to take his place. TSN’s Darren Dreger also reports that Assistant Coach Kevin McCarthy was also let go, and will be replaced by former player Ian Laperriere. Lappy had been an amateur scout with the team since retiring in 2012. Ian Laperriere and John Paddock expected to assist Berube. Sounds like Kevin McCarthy also let go. — Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) October 7, 2013 After missing …
