Steve Mason was outstanding stopping 38 of 40 shots as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the New York Rangers 4-2 on Tuesday night. “Certainly he seems to be feeling comfortable here”, Coach Peter Laviolette said of his new goaltender. ”He’s in control of the net. He’s got a good glove. He seems to be seeing the puck really well. It only took Garrett Roe 59 minutes and 59.7 seconds to tie the game, and it only took 15 rounds of a shootout for Mark Alt to score the game-winning goal, leading the Phantoms to victory over the Binghamton Senators by a score of 2-1 Sunday afternoon at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Scott Laughton and Mark Alt each earned their first American Hockey League points in their debuts with the Adirondack Phantoms, but it wasn’t enough as the Springfield Falcons skated away with a 3-2 victory Friday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Trent Vogelhuber gave Springfield (42-20-9) the early lead in the first with assists from David Savard and Jake Hansen. As befits a month whose weather can’t decide whether it wants to be February or July, the Philadelphia Flyers continued their April slate by not deciding if they wanted to win or lose Thursday’s game until the final minutes of regulation. It was sped along by Claude Giroux’s double minor for high sticking, which led to Colin Greening’s game winner with 5:36 left in regulation that helped the Ottawa Senators to a 3-1 victory. The Philadelphia Flyers lost one of the biggest games in their season tonight at the Nassau Coliseum with a 4-1 defeat to the New York Islanders. Matt Moulson and John Tavares both had a goal and an assist in the win for the Isles, while Brad Boyes and Colin McDonald both recorded two-assist nights.
