Flyers are trying for Ryan

One rumor that has always been in the head of Philadelphia Flyers fans is that of local boy Bobby Ryan. The Cherry Hill, New Jersey native has spent his entire National Hockey League career in Anaheim.  Drafted second overall in 2005, Ryan has lived up to expectations. Scoring 30-or-more goals in four of his six seasons with the Ducks proves that he is indeed an elite forward.  Spanning his career, Ryan has played in 378 contests.  Scoring 147 goals and 142 assists for a total of 289 points; he also carries a rating of plus-40 and has also pumped home …

Could the Flyers be targeting Bernier?

As the Flyers are now nearly eight million dollars over the salary cap, it is likely that buyouts are looming. Should the rumors of the Ilya Bryzgalov buyout be truthful, the question is: who will take over the vacant Goaltender position? In the past few days, a name that keeps resurfacing is that of current Los Angeles Kings backup Goaltender Jonathan Bernier.  Stuck behind the all-star brick wall known as Jonathan Quick, Bernier has had limited time to showcase his skills between the pipes. Rumor Mill: Flyers kicking the tires on Ryan Miller?

One thing the Philadelphia Flyers fan base will never cease to hear about is how we have not had a capable number one goalie in this city for 20 odd years.  Two years ago, with the signing of Ilya Bryzgalov (Bryz), the Flyer front office hoped to solve the riddle between the pipes.  Instead, it has been less than pleasant for Bryzgalov’s tenure in Philadelphia.  With the potential of an amnesty buyout looming for certain Flyers, they will be looking to upgrade every position going into the offseason. According to Eklund of Hockbuzz.com, the Flyers are interested in Buffalo Sabres’ …

Rumors and Rumblings! Incoming Alex Pietrangelo offer sheet?

Did it come as a surprise to anyone that the first rumor regarding the Philadelphia Flyers involves upgrading a defense that has struggled the majority of the season?  The Flyers defense was plagued with injuries and inconsistency throughout the year, resulting in just their second missed playoff appearance in 18 seasons. According to Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly.com, another offer sheet could be in the Flyers’ offseason plans.  This year’s target could be Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues.  The 23-year-old defenseman is on the final year of his entry level contract and is due for a major raise. Panaccio states, …
