Future Flyers Report: Laughton’s Return to Oshawa

Scott Laughton participated in 32 games for the Oshawa Generals of the OHL before he joined the Philadelphia Flyers’ roster for the start of the 2013 season. The gritty forward suited up for five games with Philly before the Orange and Black sent him down. Although he didn’t produce a single point, PIM, and left with an even plus/minus rating, Laughton had 10 shots on net and 10 hits. After a four game home stand which saw them earn seven of a possible eight points, the Philadelphia Flyers start a five game road trip Monday night. This week, the Flyers’ schedule has them doubled up on back-to-backs as they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Winnipeg Jets, the New Jersey Devils, and the Montreal Canadiens. As of right now, Philadelphia is sitting in 10th place, and is looking up at every single one of their opponents in the standings over the seven-day stretch. I will be in Philadelphia! Yes! I have a long weekend break from teaching and I’m heading east and north to see my best friend and be in the city of my team. I unfortunately will not be seeing a game due to the Flyers being away and general lack of money, but I don’t care. I plan to do the tourist sightseeing that I haven’t done the times I’ve been before and just enjoy being there. After the first week of the season, Ilya Bryzgalov’s first report card had him pegged as playing well despite not getting results. The Philadelphia Flyers seem to heading in the right direction after they recorded wins in their last two games. After they lost both the game and a crucial player on Friday, the Orange and Black pulled off back-to-back wins in their last two contests. The Flyers start a four-game week tomorrow, as they finish the seven-day stretch with a pair of games that start a lengthy road trip.
