The biggest news of the week, in terms of where former Philadelphia Flyers went, is Michael Leighton signing in the KHL. The former Flyer did not play a single game as a Columbus Blue Jacket in 2013, as he has joined Donbass Donetsk for the 2013-2014 campaign. Leighton didn’t play a single game for the Flyers in 2011-2012 and only appeared in one game during the 2013 shortened season. Whether you love his moves or hate his moves, you can’t deny Paul Holmgren is willing to make a bold trade when he feels his team needs it. One of those trades came in the summer of 2009, when Holmgren was able to grab Chris Pronger from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for several pieces. One of those pieces was a young blue liner by the name of Luca Sbisa. A small number of former Philadelphia Flyers, draft picks, and players who were once linked to the organization moved this week, as three former Flyers altered their careers and a former Trenton Titan retired. The biggest news of the week relating to former Flyers is the retirement of Jody Shelley.
