Flying Pucks: The Search for Identity, Schenn’s Non-Concussion, Lecavalier’s Return

Welcome to Flying Pucks, a hodgepodge of thoughts regarding the Flyers storylines of the past week. Lack of identity The Flyers are sorely missing something to define themselves by this year. They lack consistency game in and game out. We’ve watched them get off to painfully slow starts, and yet we’ve seen them score early. First-period struggles in one game will be third-period struggles in the next. And they can give up 4-goal leads just as easily as they can get them, if not even moreso. The offense struggles sometimes, and the defense struggles sometimes. The one constant has been …

Future Flyers Report: Vasiliev shouldn’t be ignored

When it comes to talking about defensemen in the Philadelphia Flyers’ system, the two biggest names are Samuel Morin and Shayne Gostisbehere for obvious reasons. In addition to these two, Robert Hagg has received some recognition as a second-round pick with a lot of upside. With the Adirondack Phantoms, the tandem of Mark Alt and Oliver Lauridsen look to be two defensemen that could one day be on Philly’s blue line. Another d-man who could surprisingly wear the Orange and Black one day is Valeri Vasiliev. Picked 201st overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Flyers, Vasiliev was …
