Gamekeeper’s thumb, sometimes called skier’s thumb, is a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) of the thumb. The bones that make up the palm of the hand are called metacarpals and the bones that comprise the fingers are called phalanges. The thumb has two phalanges, while the rest of the fingers have three phalanges. The joint that connects fingers to the palm are called the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints. It has only been two games, but new Flyers starting goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov has lived up to the hype thus far. The Flyers began the season with a trip to Boston to do battle with the Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins at TD Garden. Welcome to 3 on 3, a new weekly column I will be doing for flyersfaithful.com. It will be a statistical breakdown of the past week’s games and a look at the three best and worst Flyers of the week.
