Danny Syvret’s Winter Classic goal

Defenseman Danny Syvret has three goals in the NHL. His first came in the 2010 Winter Classic. It was the only goal the Flyers scored in the 2-1 loss. Today, he was cut by the St. Louis Blues. So, we pay tribute to him here with this video. Shine on, Danny Syvret. Shine on.

How did the offseason affect the balance of power in the Atlantic Division? Where will each team finish?

Nina G: I am not sure the offseason will greatly affect the balance of power in the Atlantic Division. I think injuries will be the biggest factor as it was a fairly quiet offseason for most of the division. The Flyers took the biggest hit this offseason with their moves, but Pronger’s ability to fully recover from his surgeries will also play a role in their potential success. Christmas is coming…

It’s already infiltrating stores at the mall.  I am not kidding. My nephew is over two years old. I am the doting aunt and he will have the best book collection known to any kid in the free world. Because I’m his aunt. He lives with my brother and sister-in-law in Atlanta, which just lost its hockey team. The chances of him becoming a hockey player in any period of his life is slim, but I’m hopeful. Because I’m his aunt. If asked, I admit without reservation that my favorite Flyer is Claude Giroux. The admiration comes from  a huge appreciation for his on-ice ability, “Oh my gosh, did he just pass without looking?” And some seriously amazing stick-handling skills. So I definitely enjoy forwards. Defensemen too. Mez’s shots from the blue line, Pronger’s elbows, and Kimmo’s just awesomeness.
