2014 Draft Eligibles: Kingston’s Roland McKeown will be highly sought after come June

ISS Hockey released its top 30 draft prospect rankings for the month of December earlier this week and to no surprise Kootenay Ice forward Sam Reinhart remains the No.1 prospect for the 2014 NHL Draft. However, there is a player sitting at the No.11 position who I’ve had my eye on for quite some time now. His name is Roland McKeown and he plays defense for the Kingston Frontenacs. McKeown should be on every NHL team’s must-get list come June. The 6’1, 195 pound defender is blessed with exceptional skating skills that includes top end acceleration and speed. I would classify …

Future Flyers Report: Vasiliev shouldn’t be ignored

When it comes to talking about defensemen in the Philadelphia Flyers’ system, the two biggest names are Samuel Morin and Shayne Gostisbehere for obvious reasons. In addition to these two, Robert Hagg has received some recognition as a second-round pick with a lot of upside. With the Adirondack Phantoms, the tandem of Mark Alt and Oliver Lauridsen look to be two defensemen that could one day be on Philly’s blue line. I’m not talking about sunny days and the beach, although, that would be nice. I’m talking about the 2014 NHL draft right here in Philadelphia. It’s not the most talented draft class I’ve seen as it’s probably one of the weaker classes in recent memory, however, there is one player in the 2014 class who has caught my attention that the Philadelphia Flyers should have their eye on. I introduce to everybody Red Deer Rebels …

Future Flyers Report: The former Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds

Last year for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL, Nick Cousins led the team with 103 points in 64 games while Brandon Alderson sat third on the team with 64 points in 67 games. After both players saw a handful of games with the Adirondack Phantoms last season, Cousins and Alderson haven’t quite produced the gaudy numbers they provided last year. Cousins has the higher point total between the two players, as he has three goals and six helpers in 22 games with the Philadelphia Flyers’ AHL affiliate this season. Along with his nine points, Cousins is minus-2 …
