The Trenton Titans’ losing streak reached seven games before they pulled off an overtime winner on Wednesday morning against the Reading Royals. The Philadelphia Flyers’ affiliate only grabbed one point over the 0-6-1 stretch, as their last two wins have come in overtime against the Royals at Sun National Bank Center. The Titans will be in New York tonight before they travel home to host a pair of games against the leaders of the North Division. 2013 AHL All-Star rosters revealed; Gustafsson lone Phantom

The American Hockey League released the Eastern and Western Conference rosters for its mid-season celebration on Thursday evening. Quite predictably, the Adirondack Phantoms were not prominently featured, save for defenseman Erik Gustafsson. The 24-year-old Swede has totaled three goals and 14 points in 24 games, but has been hampered by an ankle injury suffered while blocking a shot roughly one week before Christmas. If he plays, he’ll join Michael Leighton, 2012 (Atlantic City, NJ); Jon Matsumoto, 2010 (Portland, ME) and Danny Syvret, 2009 (Worcester, MA) as members of the Glens Falls AHL club to make an All-Star appearance. On a dreary day outside that was just as gloomy inside due to the fact that there seemed to be roughly the same amount of hockey players on the ice as fans in the seats, Andy Bohmbach provided a ray of hope. Remember the name Thatcher Demko. Demko, a Boston College commit who plays goalie for the U.S. Under-18 team, stopped all 23 shots that were thrown his way as Team USA beat Penn State 3-0 on Saturday to salvage a split in a weekend exhibition series. The San Diego native has been excellent so far this season in exhibition games against Division I schools. He made 35 saves in 2-2 tie against a highly touted New Hampshire squad back on December 9 and made 39 saves on October 26 against a powerhouse University of Minnesota team that features the likes of Nick Bjugstad …

The Philadelphia Flyers have made some noise lately with a few transactions. In addition to signing blue liner Kurtis Foster, the Orange and Black completed a deal with the Carolina Hurricanes where they received former Flyer Brian Boucher. In addition to Boosh, Philly was dealt defensive prospect Mark Alt. The pair was exchanged for forward prospect Luke Pither. Since most Flyers’ fans are aware of what Boucher brings to the table, many are curious as to what Alt can do. Jackson, New Jersey’s own, Anthony Stolarz, has decided to depart the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he is expected to play in the Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights. “I’m obviously disappointed by Anthony’s decision,” said UNO head coach Dean Blais in a statement issued Monday afternoon. “He has been making a very challenging transition from the North American Hockey League to the WCHA, and we, as coaches, saw good progress from him in the first half of the season. Shane Harper signed an entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers in March of 2010 after an impressive season with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League. After he potted 42 goals, an Everett Silvertips record for most goals by a player in a single season, and 38 assists for 80 points in 72 games, Harper joined the Adirondack Phantoms for five games during the 2009-2010 campaign and scored his first goal as a professional in that time. For the last three NHL Drafts, the Philadelphia Flyers have picked seven defensemen. Of those seven, three are Americans, as there has been at least one blue liner from the United States picked in each of the last three years. Marcel Noebels was picked 118th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Draft and holds the distinction of being the only German forward Philly has ever drafted, as Dennis Seidenberg is the franchise’s only German blue liner ever selected when he went in the sixth round back in 2001. A pair of forwards in the Philadelphia Flyers’ system were injured this week, as both Ben Holmstrom and Andrew Johnston suffered setbacks. Holmstrom, the team’s captain, left the Phantoms’ December 8 game against the Syracuse Crunch, which turned out to be a 4-3 shootout victory, due to an injury to his knee.
